Islay distillery about two miles from Port Ellen on Lagavulin Bay, founded in 1816 by John Johnston. It is known for intensely smoky, deeply peated single malt and distinctive pear-shaped stills. Guided tours and warehouse tastings are offered, with a retail store and Malt Mill Bar for visitors.
